Feb 28, March 20, April 3 – Study Group: Political Economy of Truth and Reconciliation

The Political Economy of Truth and Reconciliation

The publication of the report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) is a momentous event. Its hundreds of pages put into full display the Residential School system, one of the key mechanisms establishing the colonial-settler reality of what is today called Canada. Ideas Left Out invites you to join us in reading sections of this report, in combination with some “classic” writings from left political economy. We have selected sections of the TRC report in such a way as to, hopefully, respect the integrity of the report. We have selected the left political economy readings with a view to promoting a dialogue about settler-colonial capitalism. Every session will have three groups of readings, each introduced for five minutes or so by one member of the group, and then we will have a general discussion. See readings and links below.

All sessions: Sundays 4-6:00 PM. CSI Annex, 720 Bathurst St. (just south of Bloor), meeting room #1 (2nd floor)
